Noel Bright: Two-Time Be Safe GAMECHANGER at Bazooka Farmstar

September 6, 2024

At Bazooka Farmstar, “We work safely. It’s our priority.” This commitment to safety is embodied by employees like Noel Bright, who recently received the prestigious Be Safe GAMECHANGER award for the second time in his career.

Noel, who has been with Bazooka Farmstar for seven years, recently moved into the role of Shipping Supervisor. When asked what keeps him at the company, he emphasized the people and the positive atmosphere.

Noel’s dedication to safety caught the attention of his colleagues, leading to his nomination for the award. His swift response as a first aid team member and his proactive approach to ensuring safety in various processes were highlighted as key factors in his recognition.

One incident that stood out was Noel’s quick response to a call for support at a weld station. Despite limited information, Noel’s intuition and commitment to his team’s well-being led him to arrive at the scene first, ensuring the affected employee received prompt care.

Another example of Noel’s safety-first mindset is his involvement in the tire removal process for hose reel transportation. Recognizing the potential risks, Noel made it a point to be present throughout the entire loading process, refusing to let others perform the task without his supervision.

Upon receiving the award, Noel expressed surprise and humility. “I was in total shock,” he said. “I was really just doing my job, as it’s all of our job to keep everyone safe.”

When asked about the behaviors that led to this recognition, Noel emphasized the importance of thorough planning, especially when handling large equipment. “Thinking things through on how you are going to proceed on loading the large equipment is crucial. It’s a lot of weight, and making sure everyone is on the same page is vital,” he explained.

For those aspiring to win the Be Safe award, Noel’s advice is simple yet profound: “Keep your eyes open at all times and think ahead of what might happen or could happen.”

Noel’s commitment to safety extends beyond the workplace. For his $100 GAMECHANGER donation, he selected the All-Veterans Memorial in Louisa County. This organization combines the efforts of American Legions from Wapello, Morning Sun, and Columbus Junction, Iowa. His friends’ involvement influenced Noel’s choice to maintain the All-Veteran Memorial in Grandview, Iowa, which features the County Freedom Rock and a helicopter.

Noel Bright’s recognition serves as an inspiration to all employees at Bazooka Farmstar and beyond. His proactive approach to safety, quick thinking in critical situations, and dedication to his colleagues exemplify the company’s commitment to creating a safe work environment. As Bazooka Farmstar continues to prioritize safety, employees like Noel play a crucial role in fostering a culture where everyone looks out for one another.
