Marcus Davis: Living “Bigger Than Us” Every Day

April 7, 2026

Marcus Davis doesn’t do things for recognition. When he learned he’d been selected as the Q1 2026 Gamechanger award recipient for “Bigger Than Us,” his response was characteristically modest: “Feel like I am just doing my job.”

But to those who know Marcus — both at Bazooka Farmstar and in his community — what he does goes far beyond any job description.

A Twenty-Year Commitment

The “Bigger Than Us” award celebrates individuals who understand that we are more than just the work we do, and who make meaningful time for family and community. For Marcus Davis, National Sales Manager at Bazooka Farmstar, this isn’t just a philosophy — it’s a way of life he’s practiced for two decades.

As 1st Lieutenant with the Wayland Fire Department, Marcus has dedicated 20 years to protecting his neighbors. Among the 25 volunteer firefighters who make up the department, he’s been a steady presence — training on his personal time, staying on call at all hours, and stepping into high-stakes situations when his community needs him most.

His nominator captured it well: “In addition to his role as Sales Manager — which already involves significant travel and time away from home — Marcus serves as a volunteer firefighter in his local community. That commitment means training on his personal time, being on call at all hours, and stepping into high-stakes situations for the sake of others.”

The Why Behind the Service

“I feel the reason I do it is because it’s my way of giving back to the community,” Marcus explains. It’s not about glory or recognition — it’s about contribution and showing up for the people and place that matter to him.

When asked what advice he’d give to others hoping to embody this value, his response reveals what truly drives him: “Giving 110% back to the community has more meaning to me than receiving something from someone. It’s just who I am.”

More Than a Number

Marcus’s perspective on service mirrors what he values about Bazooka Farmstar. “To me, it’s more about being a family member and not a number. You feel like you are involved in the everyday activities,” he says. That sense of belonging — of being part of something larger than yourself — is what he’s found at work and what he gives back to his community.

As his nominator noted: “What makes Marcus especially deserving of this recognition is that he does not seek it. He gives his time to his community, his family, and this company — quietly and consistently — not for acknowledgment, but because it is simply who he is. As a volunteer, he represents not only his community but Bazooka Farmstar, and he does so with integrity.”

Giving Back to Those Who Give

Marcus selected the Wayland Fire Department to receive the $100 nonprofit donation — a fitting tribute to an organization where he’s served as 1st Lieutenant for 20 years.

Simply Who He Is

Marcus Davis doesn’t see himself as exceptional. He’s just doing what he feels called to do — balancing a demanding career with meaningful community service and family time. But that’s exactly what makes him a gamechanger.

In a world that often demands we choose between professional success and personal fulfillment, Marcus proves we don’t have to pick. We can be dedicated employees, committed volunteers, and engaged community members — not by doing everything perfectly, but by showing up consistently with integrity and purpose.

Congratulations, Marcus, on this well-deserved recognition. The Wayland Fire Department, your family, and your colleagues at Bazooka Farmstar are fortunate to have someone who understands that the most meaningful rewards come from giving back to what matters most.
