Lorenzo Marin Wins BE SAFE GAMECHANGER Award…Again!

June 20, 2024

Lorenzo Marin, a maintenance technician at Bazooka Farmstar, has done it again! For the third time, he has been recognized as a BE SAFE GAMECHANGER for his unwavering commitment to working safely. Not only that but Lorenzo was also named the 2023 GAMECHANGER of the Year.

As we move into 2024, Lorenzo continues to exemplify what it means to be a GAMECHANGER regarding safety. His recent actions caught the attention of his colleagues, leading to yet another BE SAFE award nomination and win.

Back in April, an electrical issue occurred at the facility in the middle of the night on a Saturday. Despite it being his day off, Lorenzo was the first to arrive on-site to assist the IT team in understanding the problem and getting operations back online safely.

One nominator noted, “Lorenzo was the first to come to the facility to help IT understand what was damaged and how to get things back online.” His troubleshooting identified the need to involve the electrical company, minimizing potential damage through his proactive approach.

When asked how he felt about being recognized again, Lorenzo humbly stated, “I was not expecting recognition. I am grateful and honored to have received the BE SAFE award again. It’s a good feeling that I am playing a good role for the entire team.”

Lorenzo credits his success to always demonstrating safety-first behaviors. “When I come to work, I am old school and always thinking about priorities of the day, but safety always comes first,” he explained.

For anyone looking to follow in Lorenzo’s footsteps, his advice is simple: “Give it 110 percent of your effort.”

In addition to his work ethic, Lorenzo values the culture at Bazooka Farmstar. “It’s a good place to work, and I like the people. Safety is a priority. Everyone contributes to safety improvements and allows others to get involved, which is rewarding.”

With his award winnings, Lorenzo chose to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stating, “I don’t want to see any child left behind that has a serious illness.”

Lorenzo’s commitment to safety, his team, and the community is truly inspiring. Congratulations, Lorenzo, on this well-deserved recognition!
