BRING IT: Rick Gier

June 23, 2023

Rick was looking for an employer that offered room for advancement and growth, which led the Q2 BRING IT Gamechanger to Bazooka Farmstar. Two years ago, Rick Gier, a saw operator, joined Bazooka Farmstar after being involved for almost twenty years in the construction business. Gier said he enjoys what he does daily and who he works with. “Bazooka was close to home, and I don’t have to travel far, so I talked with the team about opportunities and took the job as an operator.”

When Gier was asked how he felt when he was selected as the BRING IT Gamechanger, he was shocked since he “hadn’t heard about the observations team members were noticing.” BRING IT means that we deliver exceptional service and value every day. Standing still is not an option. When we say exceptional service, it is not only for our external customers but also internally.

Gier assisted a few employees one morning, looking for parts to complete the new outlaw. They also needed some steel tubing. As they were looking, Gier helped by finding the parts, getting a material cart, and delivering it to the weld area where the material was needed. Although Rick is not a material handler, these actions allowed the team to continue working on the trailer. That is some exceptional service!

When Rick was asked what he thinks led up to the recognition, he said his “hard work and sticking with it all while staying positive and willing to help others.” In the past year, Rick has been recognized for going the extra mile and ensuring others can continue their job. His quality of work is also on point, according to another nominator, and he is willing to assist others on his team to ensure saw parts are delivered timely in the facility. The nominator noted that Rick’s attitude and customer focus is what we should all aspire to be. We couldn’t agree more!

Rick is a proud father of three boys (Joseph, Jordan, Michael). He also loves animals and chose the local Paws & More Animal Shelter as his not-for-profit to receive the $100 donation on his behalf. At home, Gier has a 1-year-old poodle, Oreo, who enjoys walks and playing fetch. He also has a 3-year-old cat named Jackson, who he says is just a cat that likes to lay around!
