Tyler Olsen Embodies “We Work Hard and Own It” With GAMECHANGER Award

For the second quarter, Tyler Olsen has been named the recipient of the respected BLEED BAZOOKA GAMECHANGER award. This award recognizes employees who exemplify Bazooka Farmstar’s core value: “We work hard and own it. It’s a pride thing.”
Olsen, an assembly tech, has been with the company for just over a year. He was hired on for the Large Bar Assembly Team but has since cross-trained in multiple areas including prep work, the boat bay, and even stepping in to assist fabrication when needed.
“I was surprised. Not being here much more than a year, I didn’t anticipate being recognized for all the things I have done in that short time,” Olsen shared. “I guess I have accomplished a lot, and I appreciate being recognized for that.”
His willingness to go above and beyond is not only what led to this well-deserved recognition, but it also sets a shining example for all of us. As his nominator stated, “It would be hard to find another person as willing to help in so many areas as Tyler does.” His selflessness and team spirit are truly commendable.
When asked what advice he would give others who aspire to win this award, Olsen replied, “Don’t say no, even to the tasks others may not enjoy. Be the first one to volunteer.”
Olsen came to Bazooka Farmstar after talking with a Bazooka employee about open positions that offered more hours than his role at the time. What keeps him at the company today: “All the projects and different tasks I get to learn. The flexibility to move around is what keeps me interested in the work I do.”
The hands-on nature of the work resonates with Olsen’s interests outside of work, where he enjoys fishing, hunting deer, and taking his boat out on local lakes like Coralville and Lake Rathbun.
In recognition of his GAMECHANGER award, Olsen has selected the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital as his chosen non-profit to receive the donation. His reason hits close to home, saying “To help families that are trying to start a family.”
