Matt Crawford Earns Second Gamechanger Award at Bazooka Farmstar

April 8, 2025

At Bazooka Farmstar, safety isn’t just a policy—it’s a priority. Today, we’re proud to spotlight Weld Lead Matt Crawford, who recently earned the 2025 first quarter, BE SAFE Gamechanger Award, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

A Decade-Plus of Dedication

Matt has been with Bazooka Farmstar for over a decade, choosing to build his career locally in the town where he was born and raised. When asked about what keeps him at Bazooka Farmstar after all these years, Matt highlights two key factors: “It’s local and I like the people I work around.” This sentiment echoes what he shared during his first Gamechanger recognition, when he noted, “I really enjoy the people I work with.”

From “Own It” to “BE SAFE”

Last year, Matt was celebrated for exemplifying Bazooka’s “Own It” mentality, with nominators noting his approach “shows not only pride he has in doing good work, but also owning it to ensure the entire Bazooka team wins!” This year, the focus has shifted to safety, with the committee highlighting how Matt “leads his team to have a clean work area where everything is picked up and neat” with no trip hazards, ensuring team members and visitors can navigate safely.

Consistency in Excellence

The recognition of Matt’s second Gamechanger Award came as a surprise to him. “I felt appreciated. Didn’t see it coming,” he shared.

When previously asked what allowed him to thrive at Bazooka, Matt emphasized, “Working hard and getting things done. Being willing to go above and beyond what is asked and help out others.” This work ethic continues to drive his success, as he now attributes his recent recognition to “keeping my area organized, clean, having parts in the right place and pallets not all over the place” and ensuring his team members maintain the same standards.

Beyond the Workday

What makes Matt’s commitment to safety particularly impressive is how it extends beyond his work hours. “I also keep my shop and garage very organized as well to have a safety mindset compared to most others,” he says. This consistency between work and home demonstrates that for Matt, safety isn’t just a job requirement—it’s a way of thinking.

Giving Back

As part of his second Gamechanger Award, Matt selected Washington County Hospice as his chosen not-for-profit organization to receive the $100 donation, explaining, “I believe what they do is important, and they are local.” This choice reflects his deep connection to his community.

Advice That Stands the Test of Time

When asked what advice he’d give to someone hoping to win this award, Matt’s response was characteristically straightforward: “Work hard and be safe.” This echoes his previous encouragement for colleagues to work hard and go above and beyond to be considered for future Gamechanger recognition.

Matt Crawford exemplifies the values that make Bazooka Farmstar successful: dedication to excellence, commitment to safety, leadership that inspires others, and a willingness to continually grow and adapt. We congratulate Matt on his well-deserved second recognition and thank him for setting the standard for what it means to work safely every day.
