BIGGER THAN US Spotlight: Dustin Roberts

November 8, 2021

“A Successful Business Requires One Simple Thing: Passion.” – Teresa Collins.

At Bazooka Farmstar, we hold ourselves to a higher standard and it is a direct result of our driven and passionate employees. Dustin Roberts (aka FeFe), has been recognized for going above and beyond to help others to ensure the team’s success, earning him the #BIGGERTHANUS Gamechanger award.

Dustin started his journey with Bazooka Farmstar in December of 2020 as a part-time employee. He mentioned our National Sales Manager, Marcus Davis, was the one who told him about the opportunity within our final assembly production division. Random? Not so much. When Fefe came on board, he was no stranger to the liquid manure world, as he was working full-time on Marcus’s manure pumping crew (Magnum Custom Enterprises based out of Wayland, IA) during the busy application seasons. So, not only had Dustin had first-hand experience using our equipment, he was now building it, which has given him an even deeper appreciation for what he does in our manufacturing process. Fast-forward one year and a few odd months, Dustin now works as a full-time employee of Bazooka Farmstar in our trailer and Titan Toolbar product assembly lines.

“I was surprised when I heard I had received the Bigger Than Us Gamechanger award. It’s my instinct to jump in to help where needed.” Dustin volunteered to work in the paint booth when we needed painters. One of the nominators stated that when he was asked what led him to be interested in taking on the painting project, he responded that he volunteered so the weekend painter wouldn’t have to come in and get worn out from working six days a week. – In case you were wondering, that is the textbook definition of what we mean when we say it’s about being “bigger than us.”

Another nominator called out the same scenario and said that FeFe does what it takes to get the job done and has a can-do attitude in everything that he does. When we asked Dustin what drives him at work, he said, “Every day I go in, my mentality is to put myself out there to help others. Working together makes us a stronger team and company.”

When Dustin isn’t at work, you can usually find him spending time with his wife and two kiddos. They enjoy spending time outside fishing, riding 4-wheelers, tent camping at Lake Darling in Brighton, IA, and going to zoos to see all of the unique animals.

Dustin has chosen the Washington County Public Health as his not-for-profit to receive the $100 Gamechanger donation. “Throughout COVID-19 the WCPH stayed open the entire time and continued to provide at-home care for those who needed it.” This is just one more way Dustin has demonstrated being “bigger than us” outside of the workplace and in his community.
